‘John Wick 4,’ starring Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves, has scored a surprise theatrical release date in China.

The film will hit theatres on March 14, two years after its original worldwide release in 2023, according to US media outlets.

In a first, the R-rated ‘John Wick 4’ will be released in China without any cuts or changes from film regulators.

Reports said that the instance was rare as China usually restricts the release of violent R-rated content from overseas.

The earlier instalments of the action franchise, led by Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves, could not manage to make their way to Chinese theatres.

Recently, film regulators in China allowed Disney and Marvel’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ to run in cinemas after several cuts to the movie’s violence and explicit dialogue.

However, ‘John Wick 4’ has been allowed to hit Chinese movie screens without any cuts and changes.

The film is the highest-grossing title in the Lionsgate franchise, having generated over $440 million worldwide, including $187 million in the US markets.

Directed by Chad Stahelski, ‘John Wick 4’ was considered the final title in the franchise led by Hollywood action star Keanu Reeves.

Apart from Reeves, the film also stars Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Rina Sawayama, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick.

The action franchise began with retired hitman John Wick drawn into a life of violence after his dog is murdered by masked intruders.

The makers of the franchise have also developed a spinoff film titled ‘Ballerina,’ starring Hollywood actress Ana de Armas while Keanu Reeves will appear in a cameo role.

Citigroup mistakenly credits customer account with $81 trillion

Citi Jobs

Citi group erroneously credited $81 trillion, instead of $280, to a customer’s account and took hours to reverse the transaction, a “near miss” that shows up the bank’s operational issues it has sought to fix, the Financial Times reported on Friday.

The error, which occurred last April, was missed by a payments employee and a second official assigned to check the transaction before it was cleared to be processed the next day, FT said, citing an internal account and two people familiar with the event.

A third employee caught the error one-and-a-half hours after the payment was processed and the transaction was ultimately reversed several hours later, FT said.

No funds left Citi, which disclosed the near miss — when a bank processes the wrong amount but is able to recover the funds — to the Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the report said.

Citi told FT its “detective controls” promptly identified the error and that it reversed the entry, adding the incident had no impact on the bank or the client.
There were 10 near misses of $1 billion or more at Citi last year, down from 13 the year before, according to an internal report seen by the FT.

Citi declined to comment to FT on this report. It did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Last month Citi CFO Mark Mason said the bank is investing more to address its compliance issues, referring to regulatory penalties for risk management and data governance.

“We saw the need to invest more in the transformation on data, on technology, on improving the quality of the information coming out of our regulatory reporting,” Mason said.

Last July, Citi was fined $136 million for insufficient progress in tackling those issues and in 2020, it was fined $400 million for some risk and data failures.

Beyond Cricket: Why Pakistan Needs to Embrace a Multi-Sport Future

Beyond Cricket: Why Pakistan Needs to Embrace a Multi-Sport Future

Cricket reigns supreme in Pakistan. The passionate fan base and consistent success on the international stage make it the undisputed national sport. However, experts argue that Pakistan’s over-reliance on cricket is hindering its potential to become a true sporting powerhouse.

Besides the team’s current struggles, cricket’s unrivaled reign for over three decades had once been a source of national pride. However, its unchecked dominance in Pakistan has led to politicization and excessive hype, ultimately rendering the sport fragile and susceptible to decline.

Here’s why Pakistan should broaden its sporting horizons:

Unleashing Hidden Talent

Pakistan boasts a young and energetic population. This energy can be channeled into a wider range of sports like football, hockey, and rugby. These sports require similar athletic attributes like speed, agility, and teamwork, which are readily available in the Pakistani youth.

Global Recognition

Excelling in various sports puts Pakistan on the world map. Imagine the international acclaim if Pakistani athletes were competing at the highest level in football World Cups, hockey Champions Trophies, or rugby Sevens tournaments.

Beyond Cricket: Why Pakistan Needs to Embrace a Multi-Sport Future

Building a Sporting Ecosystem

A focus on multiple sports fosters a healthier sporting ecosystem. This includes creating robust training facilities, qualified coaches, and transparent selection processes. This benefits not just the chosen sport but also cricket, as players can train with better infrastructure and guidance.

Tennis: A Diamond in the Rough

Pakistan has a strong history in tennis. Players like Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi have achieved remarkable feats in doubles. Investing in tennis academies and infrastructure can unearth promising talent and reignite Pakistan’s tennis legacy.

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi

This shift doesn’t diminish the importance of cricket. It’s about striking a balance. Cricket can remain the heart of Pakistani sports, but other sports can flourish alongside it. The passion and dedication of Pakistani fans can be a driving force for a multi-sport revolution.

By nurturing talent in various fields, Pakistan can transform from a cricket-crazy nation into a globally recognized sporting force. The future of Pakistani sports is bright, but it requires a multi-pronged approach that celebrates the existing love for cricket while embracing the exciting possibilities that other sports offer.

Amgen to invest $200 million in India

Amgen to invest $200 million in India

US drugmaker Amgen will invest about $200 million this year in its new technology centre in southern India, with further investments planned, CEO Robert Bradway said at the inauguration of the site on Monday.

Amgen announced its plans to open a “technology and innovation” site in India last year that is focused on increasing the use of AI and data science to support development of new medicines.

“We have wanted for a long time to expand Amgen’s presence in India and that time has come. Amgen is investing an initial $200 million in this centre in 2025 and plan to make additional significant investments in future years,” Bradway said.

The site in Hyderabad city is expected to have a workforce of about 2,000 by year-end, with around 300 employees already working there, said Som Chattopadhyay, national executive for India at Amgen.

Hyderabad will also host the BioAsia conference this week, where executives from drugmakers including Amgen, Eli Lilly and Novartis, as well as several Indian pharmaceutical giants will be speaking.

Amgen is one of many global pharmaceutical players looking to expand their presence in India, the so-called “pharmacy of the world”.

India and the U.S. agreed this month to start talks to clinch an early trade deal and resolve their standoff over tariffs after talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and the Indian Prime Minister Modi.

“One significant outcome (of the talks) was the launch of the U.S.-India trust initiative, which is to promote collaboration in critical and emerging technologies, something that both our countries really need,” U.S. Consul General in Hyderabad, Jennifer Larson, said.

“Amgen’s decision to expand its foot here is a perfect example of how our nations can work together to harness innovation, talent and technology.”

Trump intends to impose “25% or higher” levies on pharmaceutical imports, a move likely to hit Indian firms since most generic drugmakers count the U.S. as their largest market.

Govt to reduce financial burden on salaried class: FinMin Aurangzeb

Pakistan ,salaried class, financial burden , Finance Minister Aurangzeb

LAHORE: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced plans to reduce the financial burden on the salaried class in the upcoming budget, ARY News reported.

Speaking to media representatives in Lahore on Sunday, he highlighted positive economic indicators, including a rise in remittance senders to 35 million and an increase in Roshan Digital Account inflows.

Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the private sector’s vital role in driving the country’s economic progress, stating that foreign exchange reserves are steadily growing.

The Minister also expressed his commitment to supporting the construction industry while ensuring no gambling activities in real estate.

Earlier, Muhammad Aurangzeb said that country’s retail sector, which contributes a significant 19% to the country’s GDP, is paying a mere 1% in taxes, sparking concerns over the sector’s lack of contribution to the national exchequer.

Speaking at a conference on “Retail Reimagined: Innovate, Collaborate & Thrive”, organized by The Pakistan Retail Business Council (PRBC) , the minister said, the disproportionate burden of taxes on the manufacturing, services industry, and salaried class is unsustainable.

“We need to bring other segments, including agriculture, real estate, retail, and wholesale, into the tax net.” He lauded provincial government for taking measures towards this end by passing bills in their respective assemblies for imposing agricultural taxes.

Also read: Pakistan’s weekly inflation rise ahead of Ramadan

Aurangzeb said, the government has been engaging with the retail sector, requesting them to formalize their businesses and pay their due share of taxes. For national interest, “we cannot afford to have people taking a free ride anymore,” adding documentation was key to achieving this goal.

He said, there has been Rs9.4 trillion rupees in cash circulation, which needed to be brought into the formal economy, acknowledged that this could not be done overnight however the government was determined to move in the right direction.

The economy, the minister added, has taken a significant turn for the better, with macroeconomic stability firmly in place as currency has stabilized, foreign exchange reserves have increased and inflation has receded with the policy rate decreasing significantly leading Kibor to recede from 23% to around 11%.

Mickey Arthur wants Pakistan player to back their skills in India clash

Pakistan, Mickey Arthur, IND v PAK, Champions Trophy 2025

Former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has advised the national players to back their skills in the high-intensity IND v PAK clash at the Champions Trophy 2025.

Arthur was the coach of the Pakistan cricket team when they defeated India in the Champions Trophy 2017 final at the Oval.

As the two sides are set to face off in Dubai later today, Mickey Arthur has urged Pakistan players to clear their minds of all negativities.

“It is a must-win game for them. They have to have the ability to back their skills against India. The thing is, once you back your skills, anything is possible,” he said while speaking to ARY News.

Micky Arthur was of the view that a single game could set the momentum for Pakistan in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025.

“Is it going to be Shaheen Afridi with the new ball or Babar Azam with the bat? Whoever it is, they need someone to lead them from the front and that will change momentum,” he said.

IHC Bar challenges judges seniority list in Supreme Court

IHC Bar, judges' seniority list, Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Bar has moved the Supreme Court of Pakistan, challenging the judges’ seniority list, ARY News reported on Saturday.

President IHC Bar Riasat Ali Azad has filed the petition under Article 184(3). “The President is not enjoying unlimited powers to transfer judges’ under Article 200 clause (i),” according to the petition.

Petitioner has also argued that the judges could not be transferred from one high court to other without public interest.

Earlier, five judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) have also challenged the seniority list of judges in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

A 49-page petition, filed under Article 184(3), stated that the President’s powers to transfer judges are not absolute and should be conditional upon the Judicial Commission’s approval.

The petition, filed through lawyers Munir A. Malik and Barrister Salahuddin, named the federal government, transferred judges, and high courts as respondents. It also seeks a stay order against the transferred judges, including Justice Sardar Mohammad Sarfraz Dogar, who recently took oath as the acting chief justice of the IHC.

The petitioners, including Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Rafaqat Imtiaz, and Justice Saman Rafat, have raised 13 pleas before the court. They contended that judges cannot be transferred from one high court to another without public interest.

This move comes after IHC judges wrote a letter to President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, expressing concerns over the appointment of the chief justice of the IHC. They had requested that the chief justice be appointed from among the three senior judges of the court itself.

Ashwin takes jibe at Babar Azam’s knock in New Zealand game

Ashwin, Babar Azam, PAK v NZ, Champions Trophy 2025

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took a jibe at Pakistan batter Babar Azam over his inning in the PAK v NZ game at the Champions Trophy 2025.

The right-handed batter received severe backlash over his 64 runs off 90 balls as Pakistan were put to chase 321 in their opening game against New Zealand on February 19.

The former Pakistan batter struggled throughout his inning as he managed to score just 12 runs off 27 balls in the first ten overs of the PAK v NZ game.

Consequently, Pakistan were bowled out for 260 and lost the game by 60 runs to start their Champions Trophy 2025 on a dismal note.

Reacting to his inning, Ravichandran Ashwin lamented the lack of intent from the former Pakistan captain, saying that he did not take a risk throughout his inning in the side’s opening game at the Champions Trophy 2025.

“I want to say one thing about Babar Azam is a very talented cricketer. But people should not get angry that I have criticised him. Yesterday also, he played a fantastic cover drive. But, the result of the entire game cannot be made by one cover drive. It has to be played completely. I understand that if a batsman is out of form or gets out because it’s a sport. I don’t know how to phrase it. But where was his intent? Did he keep it at home? I don’t know what he did,” said Ashwin while speaking on his YouTube channel.

Read more:: Harbhajan points out Virat Kohli’s spin struggles after Bangladesh game

While acknowledging that the ball spun in the second inning of the PAK v NZ game, the former India spinner was of the view that Babar Azam did not try any other shot to counter the spin bowlers.

“The wicket was a bit difficult as the ball was spinning a bit but it was staying low. There were two off-spinners bowling and Babar Azam did not try to hit one single ball by coming forward. He came forward on the wrong ball. When Bracewell and Phillips were bowling by keeping one short square leg, he did not play lap sweep against those bowlers,” Ashwin said.

The former India spinner raised concerns about the former Pakistan batter’s shots arsenal, saying that the inning looked like he did not have the ability to play any shot other than cover drive.

“I was having a doubt in my mind whether Babar Azam is playing because of confidence or he does not have shots like sweep, reverse sweep and not playing cut well. He was only playing cover drive,” Ashwin added.

Bhumi Pednekar speaks up on pay disparity in Bollywood

Bhumi Pednekar speaks up on pay disparity in Bollywood

Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar has spoken out against the gender-based pay disparity in the film industry.

During a promotional spree for her recently released film ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’, Bhumi Pednekar got candid about the gender pay disparity in Bollywood, confessing that she had been ‘paid way less’ than male co-stars who have achieved as much as her.

Speaking about pay disparity, she said, “This problem is not even limited to cinema only, but the same is the case across the sectors. Even if you look at the CEO of any large conglomerate, if she’s a woman, her salary will definitely be lower. And if I talk specifically about cinema, there’s definitely a huge gap.”

Pednekar continued, “Many times, we say that the male actors are the ones who bring in more business… and that’s absolutely right. This isn’t about seniority. But I’ve been at places where I have achieved as much as a male co-star and yet I have been paid way less.”

“However I feel that as more producers are coming in who genuinely believe in equality, I can see the gap bridging,” the actor optimistically concluded.

WATCH: Rohit addresses dropped catch that denied Axar Patel hat-trick

Rohit Sharma, Axar Patel, hat-trick, Champions Trophy 2025

India captain Rohit Sharma has come up with a plan to make amends for his drop catch that denied Axar Patel a hat-trick during their Champions Trophy 2025 opener against Bangladesh.

A day earlier in their opening game, the left-arm spinner dismissed Bangladesh’s Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim off the second and third deliveries of the ninth over.

However, India captain Rohit Sharma dropped an easy catch in the slips off the fourth ball to deny Axar Patel his hat-trick.

The India captain was seen furious with himself as he hit the turf multiple times in frustration. He was also seen apologising to Axar, who was stunned over the wasted chance.

When asked about how he would make it up to Axar Patel after the game, Rohit Sharma said that he would take the spinner to dinner someday.

“I’ll take him out for dinner on Friday night,” he said.

Rohit Sharma lamented the drop catch, saying that it was an easy one to grab onto.

Corsair CEO shares his views on GTA 6 PC release date

Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto, GTA 6

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, confirmed the launch window of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 last year.

The company, at the time, said that GTA 6 will be released in the fall of 2025 on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

However, the company or Rockstar Games did not give any details about a PC version of the sixth title in the Grand Theft Auto series.

As speculations about the game’s PC release intensify, the CEO of gaming PC maker, Corsair has revealed the likely date GTA 6 will arrive on PC.

During Cosair’s recent earnings call, CEO Andy Paul said that the game might arrive on PC in ‘early 2026.’

Speaking at the earnings call, Paul said that customers were ‘lining up to buy components from us’ as he speculated that GTA 6 on PC was ‘likely a year away’.

“My understanding now it’s [GTA 6] going to come out in the fall for console, and then early 26 for PC,” he added.

If his statement is to be believed, the gap between the console and PC launch would be an unusually short one given that GTA 5 got a PC version two years after the original console launch.

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive has not released any official statement on the PC launch of the sixth title in the Grand Theft Auto series.

Earlier in an interview, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick shared his views on PC as a gaming platform, saying that it was worth paying attention to going ahead.

“I think the trend that you’d want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC,” he said.

Khawaja Saad Rafique opposes Aviation ministry merger with Defense

Khawaja Saad Rafique, Aviation Ministry, merger,, defense ministry, oppose

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader and former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has opposed the merger of the Civil Aviation Ministry with the Defense Ministry.

Khawaja Saad Rafique, who never backs off from criticising his own government’s decision, has recently opposed the right-sizing policy of the incumbent government.

In a social media post, Saad Rafique expressed his disappointment over the move, calling it an inappropriate decision that could harm the aviation industry.

He pointed out that PML-N’s election manifesto had promised the formation of a Ministry of Transport by merging Railways and Aviation, rather than dissolving the Aviation Ministry altogether.

The former minister further stated that if “right-sizing” was the objective, a more logical approach would have been to merge Railways, Aviation, and Ports & Shipping under a unified Ministry of Transport.

Read more: Aviation Division merged with Defence Ministry

According to Khawaja Saad Rafique, placing the aviation sector under the Ministry of Defence would negatively impact the industry’s growth and efficiency.

The statement of the PML-N stalwart follows after the federal government merged the Ministry of Aviation with the Ministry of Defence, abolishing the status of one more ministry under its rightsizing plan to reduce state expenditures.

The defence ministry has issued a letter regarding the merger to notify the development to all ministries and divisions after completing the implementation of statutory regulatory orders (SROs) given by the Cabinet Division on February 4.

JCP meets today for appointment of new Supreme Court judges

JCP meeting, Supreme Court judges' appointment, Islamabad security

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) with Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi in chair, meeting today for the appointment of new judges to the Supreme Court.

Stringent security measures have been taken after lawyers’ groups announced protest. Heavy contingents of police also deployed in the Supreme Court premises.

The administration has closed Jinnah Underpass with containers, only Margalla road has been open for vehicles to reach the supreme court. Long queues of vehicles witnessed at Margalla road with heavy traffic jam.

The Rawalpindi to Islamabad metro bus service has been restricted to Faiz Ahmed Faiz, while the Kashmir Highway to Pak Secretariat metro bus service has been suspended.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court Bar Association, the Pakistan Bar Council and four provincial high court bar associations have rejected calls for protests and strikes against the judicial commission’s session.

The officials of six leading bar associations have condemned the opposition to the JCP meeting.

They accused certain groups of lawyers attempting to advance their own agendas through the protest call. “Some miscreants want to create chaos for their interests”.

The lawyers elected representatives extend full support for the judicial commission’s proceedings, the lawyers bodies reiterated in joint statement.

However, four Supreme Court judges, earlier penned a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi, asking him to suspend new appointments to the court until the decision on the 26th Amendment case is made.

The judges, including Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Ayesha Malik, and Justice Athar Minallah, expressed concerns that new appointments could create ‘controversy and undermine the court’s legitimacy’.

The judges argued that the appointment of new judges could be perceived as “court packing” and may impact the outcome of the 26th Amendment case. They also pointed out that the Islamabad High Court’s seniority list has been altered without the judges taking oath, which is a ‘mandatory’ requirement.

The judges also requested that the Judicial Commission’s meeting scheduled for February 10 be postponed and that the appointment of new judges be delayed until the decision on the 26th Amendment case is made. They also questioned why the court is being put in this situation and whose agenda is being served by rushing the appointment process.
